A new obstacle

There's a new obstacle between me and my writing. His name is Ranger.

The cat is obsessed with my computer! He walks on they keyboard, attacks my mouse cursor, and even likes to play with pens while I'm writing. What? You don't believe me?

It was hilarious the first time. It was pretty funny the second time too. By the third time I'd pulled him away, I thought he'd give up, but the kitten just keeps coming back. He's relentless! (Relentlessly stupid anyway, heh.)
Ranger does the same thing with food, but I suspect that's because he was starved for the beginning of his life. He'll doggedly pursue any food he gets a whiff of. Last night, Carrie made me home made (real!) beef and chicken ramen. I kept pushing him off my lap, and at one point he decided to circle around and attack from behind. He vaulted up the back of my chair and perched on my shoulder!

I've been kicking ideas around for a few BattleTech short stories for a warm-up before I start writing on any bigger projects. I fleshed out an outline for one of the ideas yesterday and I'll do some tweaking today and character profiles so that I'll have a good starting point. I've also been reading again to help grease creative works. Last weekend, I finished re-reading (and finally finishing) A Game of Thrones. Last night, I picked up Masques by Patricia Briggs from the book pile. Upon opening it, an introduction greeted me. Masques was the first book the author ever wrote! She talks a little bit about it's origins and about her reaction to it after becoming a successful author for a decade plus a half. I thought it was a funny coincidence to read (yet another) "How it all began" story when I'm about to work on writing myself (yet again).

This post actually took about three hours to post. Three! There was a grocery store run, a chocolate muffin, and lots of Shane time in between to list some of the activities. I'll start working on my draft later on when he's  tuckered out.
