Belated Friday Event

Last Friday, Shane and I went to the playoff football game for Amelia! Ryan's the band director. The rains had destroyed their field, so the game was moved to Monticello HS right down the road from us. It was an easy drive!

But cold. Very cold. I never realized metal bleachers were heat vampires. The seat leeched all my body warmth out my butt.

We managed to stay happy, though.

Ryan stayed busy with the band. He let them have a small break, so he wouldn't be deemed an evil taskmaster and posed for a quick photo.

We stayed through half time and then called it a night. I looked up the score later. Amelia lost. They don't get to advance, but all their fans get to avoid cold metal bleachers. I'm glad wrestling is an indoor sport. I'll bring a towel or a blanket to sit on the next time I deal with winter bleachers!

Our First CHS Football Game

Free food? Count us in! Shane and I went to a grill and chill before a home game on Friday.

Shane immediately climbed to the top of the bleachers.

I let Shane play on my phone when the game started. One of my students was in the game, so I didn't want to leave until I'd seen him play some. We were ahead when we left. I checked the final score the next day and it turned out to be a win.

What The.....No.

Shane brought home a new book from the school library. I'm disappointed with him and whatever librarian encouraged this pick.

Venturing Forth

Shane and I left the house for the first time since the Doctor's on Wednesday. We went to the Southern States.

Shane was basically fever free by Saturday night. We were told he would be non-contagious after 24 hours of no fever.

He should be good for school tomorrow. He's certainly showing enough energy.

Maybe it's because I told him he could play video games during the Super Bowl. This year, LI, it looked like it was going to be a Falcons blowout over the Patriots. I turned it off at half time. Carrie turned it back on later and fell asleep.

I hopped on the computer, talked to John, and looked back and saw the start of a comeback. I paid only passing attention until it got closer and closer. Then, OT.

I was rooting for the Falcons, but it's hard not to start to root for a team that comes back that hard from that far behind. Made for a memorable Super Bowl.

I'm looking forward to going back to work and getting back into the swing of things tomorrow. It's time to be healthy!

Sleepy Sunday

Football is on.

UPDATE:
Shane and I went outside to keep it quiet and throw a frisbee. We came back in time for the end of the game. Carrie woke up shortly thereafter.

We checked on the chickens and Carrie swung wide the door to freedom.

The chicks were content to peck upon the threshold. Perhaps the hasta of fear discouraged venturing further abroad.

Shane had a very hard time being patient.

I don't think we have to worry about the chickens running away if the door is open. Ever.

After almost 10 minutes, we were bored and tired of waiting. Carrie picked up a couple clucks and forced the yard upon them. Henry and his dad wandered over during the trial of patience.

When the boys started to play "race around the chickens," Carrie raced to put them back!

VICTORY PIZZA!!!

10-Topping large pizza for $10 from Papa John's.

VICTORY PIZZA!!!!!!!

Hail to the Redskins! Hail victory! It doesn't happen often! Eat unhealthy!

After a five TD win, I'm enjoying a monster pizza. I ran out of toppings I liked and had to double up on something! GLEE!

Carrie picked up the pizza so we could avoid delivery fees. She said the place was PACKED. There were over 15 employees being run ragged by a short-tempered manager. The guy at the register even apologized to her.

It got me to thinking: working at Papa John's around here must train you to hate the Redskins. In the past, they didn't win as much, but with RG3 there's hope and more touchdowns than before. My brother, Patrick, works at a Papa John's so I texted him.

His reply?

"Nothing sucks more. I hate RG3 with a passion...." He then went on to describe the passion in words that I'm not going to post! On one hand, I feel bad for all the swamped PJ workers.

On the other hand, I was too busy chewing to feel the proper amount of sympathy.

Victory pizza! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!
