Decision Time

Tuesday morning -

Shane's temperature is in the upper 99's. He's had a cough, but otherwise seems happy and energetic (He woke up at 6:30 AM).

Carrie has the first certified organic shipment for the company to be unloaded and is moving her stuff from the sales floor to the factory. She planned to go into work early, because it's a big day.

Meanwhile, I have eight days left, deadlines, and the kids have been extra special with a cherry on top. After next Friday, I can take off whenever. Right now, any missing teacher is grounds for extra crazy and the odds of finding a sub at 8 AM are very low....

Preschool or no preschool?

Good-Bye, Charlie

Shane and Charlie played together for a final time. Charlie, Hayes, and Lindzey move to Dallas this week. They worked on the puzzle together at first.

Then broke off to do their own things. Shane must have stuffed 10 stuffed cats into that cat carrier.

Can't keep busy kids in one spot for too long!

Side Story:

"Daddy! A dead bee!"

"Leave it bee, Shane. Get it? That was a pun! I said "bee" with two e's..."

"Look!"

Shane picked it up while I talked.

Shane thinks while acting. He hasn't progressed to thinking before acting. However, the bee must have stung something else, because Shane tried to poke its butt a hundred times without event.

At that point, a dead bee becomes a cool thing to look at. I allowed it! I love the sense of wonder.

Delayed Posting

Two things have kept me from posting:

1) Fatigue
2) Civilization V

The former is from work, chores, trying to get healthy, and parenting. The latter is a game I bought on sale to keep my mind occupied while I was sicker.

Now, Shane has a cough, so I listen to the monitor while "just one more turn"-itis strikes.

Nine work days until Summer!

It's Wet Out There

It rained again. I heard that it rained in DC 25 out of 30 days in a row. The most info I could find for Charlottesville was we had a streak of 14 days of rain out of 16. It became too much work after that.

But, I digress. It rained again, and Shane's last day of soccer was cancelled. It was supposed to be the rain make-up day for a previous rainy day.

We visited Mommy at work and made nests instead.

No sense hanging around the house all day!

Shane and I ran some errands afterward. We went to Costco, etc, etc. I enjoy simple trips and grocery shopping. Shane does, too. This should be our final Saturday to visit Mommy at the showroom. She should be moving over to the factory floor on Monday!

We hung around the house after nap. Carrie showed Shane Hotel Transylvania 2 and he loved it.

Batter Up

Shane and I met Mommy for dinner after she got off work. He's the one who wanted a picture in front of the train (four diesel engines!). We watched some softball while we ate.

Then Raheem was shooting hoops when we got home with Mommy. They played some softball-inspired baseball before bedtime.

Swim Lesson #3

Toy sharks...

...and goggle switching.

Shane's still highly distractible. I didn't expect that to change in a week.

However, his swimming skills have improved.

Still lots of room to grow. It's a great way to get out his hyper energy.

Always nice to have an outlet for him when I'm exhausted!

Last Small Group of the School Year

Samuel's family is going to the Dominican Republic for the first month of summer, so we won't seem them for a little.

They gave each other a "bro hug" before we left.

Ants in the Pants!

Shane had a lot of fun looking at ants and their larvae.

They got all over him, too. We would have had a lot more just than a science lesson if they'd been a biting species!

Now, I've got to get the stupid things out of the house.

Kid-In-A-Box

Have I mentioned we're going to miss Charlie's family when they move out? Shane and Charlie took turns pretending to be a jack-in-the-box. Eventually, they drew a handle, made a button, and took turns throwing a ball in the box while someone hid in it.

Good times.

Sinus Infection

The congestion hung around after the flu ended. Then, it morphed into something a little more. The right side of my face throbbed down to my teeth. I popped an ibuprofen after work that day.

Being sick always makes you appreciate when you're well again.

Side note: Did Shane really need to wake up at 6:00 AM three days in a row? It started on Saturday. The weekend! This morning, he woke up singing.

I'm awake, I'm awake!
Can I get up? I want to get up!
