Winter is coming. No wait, it's here.
Sunday brought a winter storm. It froze over by morning.
Shane was ready.
He was born ready.
Shane and I went outside the night of the storm. I was tempted to stay indoors, but little boys were made to play in the snow. My desire for warmth was overridden.
Shane was a big "help" shoveling the driveway.
He became a real help when our neighbor, Lisa, came out and gave him a toddler sized shovel!
Shane had a ball (and it kept me busy, too). I know many people wouldn't think of shoveling as fun, but A) it was outside, B) there was snow, and C) it's physically active, outside in the snow! It helped keep Shane from diving into the snow and soaking himself, too. He put up a large enough fight when I did drag him inside.
Daniel and his parents came over and joined us in the festivities. Michael walked his salt spreader up and down our driveway and then we all played snow plow groupies. Shane would shout and scream with each pass. Daniel was more interested in the Christmas lights and convincing one of his parents to carry him.
Roxy was sad she was stuck in the backyard for the festivities.
I think it was the first time she's seen the snow. She went nutty the first time I threw her out in it (Thank God for fences!)
The next day, Shane and Roxy LOVED running around in the snow together. I tried to video tape some of it, but it didn't turn out well. It was dark, and Roxy is a canine bullet. I've never owned a dog this athletic before.
Little boys and puppies like to run in the snow. Who'd have thunk?
I loved watching them. Shane chortled the whole time. Roxy was an amazing blur. I joined in with the running some, but the yard was such a swamp I mainly played lifeguard. The snow was melting and made a giant lake along our back fence line. Shane finally got over his last coughing epidemic. I didn't want him to get soaked and catch a chill.
We'll see if it all re-freezes tonight.
