Oh, Saturday.

It's great to have a Saturday where things aren't moving in high gear.

The house inspection was yesterday from 4:30-7:30, so there's no pressing need to watch Shane and clean-up after him at the same time. This week was full-on busy mode at work, and the looming inspection meant Carrie and I spent most of our home-time working as well. All of that's done now! At least until the appraisal, I suppose.

The poor boy isn't sleeping well, though. He got up at 5 AM this morning and let out a "Hurt/I'm sick cry." He sounded really distressed, so I hopped out of bed right away. My son ended up sleeping on me while sitting up for the next 40 minutes. I could hear the snot errgling and burgling as he breathed. I figured keeping him vertical might help him breathe better and sleep longer. Eventually, he let me put him back down and he drifted off which let me hop back into bed and drift off myself for a shade more sleep.

Shane's coughing must have been waking him up on and off, because he took a 2.5 hour nap this afternoon. It was awesome! I did the dishes, sat down, and goofed off for an hour and a half on the computer. I actually felt almost sick with myself for playing a game that long (especially in one sitting!). I got back up and did house chores after that, but it was nice to slow things down and do absolutely nothing important for a bit.

Another nice surprise came from my wife. Carrie got out of work early, and brought Chic-Fil-A home for lunch! After we enjoyed our meal, Shane woke up and Carrie got really excited. Avatar: Legend of Korra premiered today. My wife was giddy. Giddy! Her excitement was contagious and I was hyper-dada crawling circles around Shane while we all watched together. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes!

If not for Shane's sickness, this would be what I prefer my Saturdays to look like. Spend time with my boy, my wife gets out of work early and comes home, I don't have to make lunch or dinner, and there's no crisis/project/deadline looming. The only thing that would've made it better is if Shane and I got out of the house or we visited someone.

The work crunch is going to go back into high gear on Monday. There are jobs to apply to, kids bawling and puking, and standardized tests on the horizon. It was nice to have a slow Saturday where I didn't think about any of it until I tried to come up with how to wrap up this post.
