After AM Chores on Saturday, I drove up to Stuart's Draft for a wrestling tournament!
Two years ago, I'd brought Shane and Henry to this very tournament. Numbers were way down (Unless you were Salem which brought a full TWO teams to compete!).
I spent the afternoon videotaping matches and talking. The old wrestling coach had switched to coaching at the school he taught PE at. He nearly had a full team, but very little in the way of experienced wrestlers. I think there will be some programs that dominate, but most will take years to build back up to where they used to be.
I left before the final match. It was the longest I've been inside without wearing a mask. It's funny how I've become so used to wearing it during school all day that it feels weird being in a school without one.
Carrie was exhausted by the time I got home. She'd taken Shane to a riding lesson and I ended up doing PM horse chores and making the barn nice for our boarders who show up every Sunday morning to help out.
Wrestling will be on hiatus until January. The team would benefit from some practices over break, but since it's unlikely more than a couple would show up the coach decided to let everyone rest.
