When I first moved out, I thought, "I'm a bachelor and bachelor's are supposed to have decent TVs." So what did I do? I went out and shopped around for the best bang for my buck. I ended up with a 42" plasma TV from Walmart that's been around for the past 4 years.
At first, it sat on Carrie's old TV stand.
Then, Shane started to get mobile. Carrie didn't want Shane to be able to easily reach in and yank on wires (my wife is a smart cookie). So, we switched it out for an IKEA model with drawers.
It worked well for a while, but then Shane got stronger. He learned that he could open up the drawers. The solution? We unscrewed all of the knobs and put them in the drawers.
Around this time, Shane was up and about, running and climbing. He couldn't reach the TV at first, but he learned that he could stand on his riding train or a dump truck. The TV has fingerprints all across the bottom of the screen from his attempts to touch Nemo or whoever was on.
Shane didn't stop growing. If anything, he just started growing faster! He got to where he could touch the TV on his own. Then, he developed enough reach to start grabbing on to the bottom corner. One day, I noticed he was strong enough to grab the bottom corner and twist the TV in place a little (the opposite corner hit the wall and halted his progress).
It was around this time, that Carrie decided we should mount the TV. It made sense to me and I quickly agreed.
This is what we saw the day after we installed the TV on the wall.
How's that for good timing?
