It's official

We're planning to sell.

One of the agent's assistants came over on Friday to give the house a once over and give us a recommended selling price. I told Carrie if the price was over a certain number, I'd agree to sell. She texted me at work to let me know the good news: the agent quoted almost the exact price I'd mentioned that morning. It was only $100 less and in real estate terms that's exact.

However, I was still surprised to see a Realtor's lock-box on the door when I got home.

When my wife moves into 'project mode' she doesn't move at any other pace than 'breakneck speed!'

This saga started with us having a long talk on Monday. Carrie was ready to go! I'm the one who had more reservations (Ironic, since I was the original person to say this was a 'temporary house' until we moved in). We've talked about many things since such as timing, prices, 'what if?' and in the end I've agreed that this could be a good opportunity. I've been praying about it, and it all seems to fit. Whether it works out how we're thinking or some other way, we won't know until it happens.

In the meantime, the work has started. Carrie's handed Shane over to me every night this week when I've gotten home. From that point on, she turns into utili-Carrie until bedtime. After I've put Shane to bed, I pitch in too. There's lots of work to do. Little things that were on our "at some point" list have suddenly moved to the "get'r done now-now-now!" list.

We're doing lots of research and looking around, but there's still a lot of things we don't know. Where will I be working next year? Will Carrie's job evaporate when her boss retires in the fall? Or will she get that online only position? Can we get a single family home? I'm a huge proponent of "live within your means," but if we really do get the price we were quoted and double our down even a small house isn't out of the question. It would be easier to afford if it was a foreclosure or required some work we're already experienced with. I'm not eager to look into short sells again. It took 5 months to complete the short sell on this house, and my parents have 3 foster kids living there and my brother Matt moved back home and took over the basement, so we can't park with them if timings don't mesh. Anyway, there's lots of questions and unknowns.

Exciting times.
