Up the Mountains - Spring Break Day 5

Friday, our next spring break adventure began.

"Look Daddy! This is the video you didn't want me to see!"

So we watched it.

Seriously.

Shane had already seen it, so I figured I'd watch to at least know what it was. Two guys played MineCraft and gave people cookies to help them escape a tornado.

Carrie launched arrows. No golfers were hurt.

We resumed our mission after breakfast, cookies, tornadoes, and my wife's archery startled a golfer looking for a ball in the woods.

I didn't help.

I don't know a thing about trailers and there was already a committee. Too many cooks in the kitchen and Shane running loose with a giant tree branch and making sound effects is a recipe for disaster.

It was cool to let him play with a baseball bat in Wal-Mart, though. We stopped so Carrie could be chocks.

Everything took longer than expected. Our West Virginia trip didn't start until 2:00 PM. It was almost a scratch.

Then we were in the mountains.

At one point, I hit scan on the radio and it found nothing. It did a full loop. Nothing. That was a new phenomena for me.

Shane struggled valiantly to avoid a nap, but succumbed in the end.

The excitement (and his new cup from WalMart) kept him up.

He napped for a little over an hour. The whole drive took three.

We found ourselves 2700 ft about sea level at a resort outside Beckley, WV. Carrie found a spring break special.

It was cheaper than a hotel.

It was nicer than a hotel.

It was awesome!

It even had Disney Jr for Shane and Carrie to recover from the car trip with.

I took pictures.

The resort had a free shuttle service.

Shane was psyched about the shuttle, but what we really needed was dinner.

We didn't go hungry.

It was too cold and growing dark outside, so we looked into indoor activities. We rang the shuttle and jogged over to the leisure center.

Shane and I investigated the pool. Carrie was going to go to the cinema, but she ended up following us instead.

There are some more details in there, but I'll save those for a breakout later. The bottom line: We tired Shane out enough he went to bed fairly easily.

Any night we all go to sleep tired and with a story is a good one.
