There and Back Again, A Spring Break Journey - Spring Break Day 3

6:15 AM. Shane went down like a rock, but he was up with the sun. I know, because we had to share a bed. He hummed and poked me for the next 30 minutes until I let him go downstairs.

Coffee was needed. Matt and Renee got up a little later, but they agreed.

Matt hung out and talked while Renee got ready for work. We left when it was his turn to shower and get dressed. We were the only ones on Spring Break. Which helped, because I knew the next two people I wanted to ambush would be at work.

Of course, neither one was in their office when we showed up. That's okay, I knew where they lived.

The Jeffers house was around the corner. Shane and I ambushed Jerry, Diane, Ashley, and Oreo. Diane had to run off to work (heh), but we stayed and played with Oreo and Jerry. There was a shooting contraption that Shane (and Oreo) were fascinated with.

Oreo's twelve, so he can be a little cantankerous. Sometimes we had to play catch or keep-away to keep Shane's cannon supplied with ammunition.

Our next stop was Jama's. We had to catch her before she went to a movie at 11:45 11:35 11:30 AM.

We apparently won a race. She'd bought a whoopee cushion. She figured she'd give it to Shane or Cole and we got their first.

It was love at first toot.

Subtlety not included.

It looked like it was almost time to head home. Shane and I went out to grab my favorite bagels (Manhattan!) and lunch at Subway. Then we headed over to a Korean Bakery (Shila) for Carrie.

That bakery served me well once discovered. I always knew I could stop there on the way home if Carrie was having a tough day or if I was going to be in the dog house. They were out of her favorite Mocha bread, but they had a new, personal, cream/soboro take on it. I snatched up the last one.

About that time, I heard back from Matt G (I know a lot of Mike's and Matt's). I texted him a picture of his office earlier to let him know we were in town. He had some spare time before a 1:30 PM meeting. Shane and I turned around and went over to Robinson.

I like to visit people. One, I like to see how they're doing, and two, I feel it lets them know they're someone worth visiting. Everything takes a little longer to get around to in NOVA, so I didn't have a chance to see everyone (Gen & Chris, Travis, my friends at Carson and at Centreville, Bryce...).

Shane and I said our good-byes and hopped on the road to head south. It was perfectly timed for him to nap. I saw a giant tractor.

Shane woke up just in time to say "Can we go to that fun place with the animals?"

"Yoder's?" I asked.

"Oh yeah! Yoder's!"

So we did.

It was a lot warmer out this time. Several local families had the same idea.

The animals were still sleepy and tired.

But Shane wanted none of that!

Shane was especially interested in the peacocks. One was showing off his plume.

He wasn't shy about running up to other families to tell them about the goats, chickens, or pulleys, either.

We stayed for almost an hour. Then we used their sparkly clean bathrooms and made the final leg of the journey.

Home - Where Jama's whoopee cushion was an instant hit.

All the neighborhood kids wanted to try it!

Shane eventually got tired of sharing and ran off behind the houses to try and fart alone. I told the other kids if they left him alone he'd learn it's no fun to fart without an audience, but he was too cool. They couldn't stay away.

They all ended up running and playing until dinner time happily. Shane wanted Mommy to sit on the whoopee cushion once she got home.

"Mommy, can you do me a favor?"

"Yes, Shane?"

"Stand up." *Blowing noises* and then *giggles* "Okay. I want you to sit down now."

Subtlety still not included.
