Graduation 2019

I stayed late at work every day this week trying to do everything that needed to be done. Tonight was graduation. I had time to go home, get some dinner, and then scoot over to John Paul Jones arena.

My boss, Jill, texted me a picture from the stage of one student I'd hounded in particular over the past years.

I forwarded the picture to him (because, yes, I was on a texting basis with this kid at this point) and he replied, "lmao I look mad!"

Four years at LMA. It was a wild ride and well worth the effort. I feel like God called me to start there and I wonder what life is going to be like at Monticello High School where I feel he's sending me next.

Graduation Night

Graduation #3 as a teacher accomplished.

13 kids graduated. That's up from 10 last year.

My feelings are similar, too. I'm exhausted and burned out, but not yet homicidal. I do have a chunk of paperwork left to do tomorrow, sadly. I'll probably have to pull some summer hours to write IEPs after a pair of evaluations the final week of school.

Another year for the books.

Carrie took Shane to a make-up teeball game and cookout while I was occupied. Hopefully, I'll get pictures. She sent me a few gifs of Worf playing baseball on DS9, but that's not quite the same...

Graduation Walk

Shane graduated from PreSchool today! I put some nice clothes in the car and picked him up early for Subway (No "hangry" kids allowed). We ended up a little late, because Carrie demanded kilts. We had to race home and back. Shane's teacher was crying when I dropped him off. She did a great job.

I recorded the whole thing for Nana and Pop. Shane's been singing the songs all week. He was dubbed "Most Musical." I'd contest he's got the biggest lungs.

Intro - (Shane's supposed to start off National Anthem):

Lots of little kids singing:

Lots more singing. Shane starts to get talked about at 5:04 if you want to skip:

Lots of other kids get awards (but not much Shane screen time):

Passing out diplomas:

It was probably more organized than the high school graduation. We were packed in pretty tight, so I got jostled with every round of applause.
