Shane's bonded with Roxy. He likes to chase her, be chased, and climb all over her. We try to let him be the one to scoop her food into the bowl when possible.
He hasn't fully learned empathy, though. Sometimes he gets a kick trying to yell and make her go into her crate.
All in due time.
A dog is a great excuse to go outside, too.
My hope for Roxy is that she and Shane get to grow up together. He'll learn some responsibility taking care of her; she'll be there if he needs to hug someone.
For now, Shane and Roxy love to rough-house.
She's a great dog overall.
She was a total stinker last night and this morning. Carrie and I got to go out on a date night. I put Roxy in her crate before I took Shane to Nana's. I thought we'd be right back, but just in case I put Roxy's dinner and water in with her. I didn't want her to think she was being left hungry and abandoned.
Roxy howled as I loaded Shane in the car. She doesn't do it at night, but we can always hear her when we lock her up to go to the grocery store or what have you.
By the time we got home Roxy was panicked. The stinker had pulled the cover off her crate and shredded it. I had stored an old leash on top of her crate in case I needed it, but she somehow sucked that in and cut it to pieces, too. It probably became exposed after she destroyed her cover. Roxy's water bowl had chew marks all around, as well.
I thought she'd sleep well after being on edge so long. She proved us wrong at 6:00 AM.
Kids and dogs: they don't let you sleep in. They keep you busy, too.
I still think Roxy's a great dog. Shane loves her and I don't mind the extra work.
Come tomorrow morning, If she wakes the whole house up she'll be on the shit list.
