Shane and I beat Brett to Pokemon Night. There was a boy, Robert, sitting with his mom and no one to play with, so I encouraged Shane to talk to him. Unfortunately, the boy was sitting at a table right next to another boy on an xbox.
The siren call of the video screen lured Shane away from the cards.
I ended up playing part of the game for Shane when he wandered away! I would have thought it was more rude and forced the issue, but Robert was highly distracted and his friend, Avery, showed up and played some before he was highly distracted, as well. I helped teach the game in between talking to Dick and watching the boys.
It turned more into a little kid social night than anything Pokemon related. Shane got into Pokemon just enough to run over and collect the promo cards before being distracted again. The xbox boy didn't share the controller with anyone, but another boy brought in a NES emulator with duck hunt! He shared.
At least they were having fun and being social.
Dick and I pulled Brett and Shane away at the very end to try a Pokemon game before we called it a night. Brett really wanted to play, but there was no chance for either of them at the electronic end of the FLGS.
We left a little after 8 to pick up Carrie's prescription and go home for bedtime.
Side note: The bathroom was gross. Shane had to use it and when he took longer than I expected, I checked in on him. There was poop on the seat. He swore it wasn't him and I 80% believed him (kids do lie and Shane is a kid...plus that was a long pee and he washed his hands). I told the guy up front and offered to clean up if he had anything to clean with since I couldn't swear it wasn't my kid. He was the only one in the shop at the moment and said they'd take care of it when someone else got back. I half hope Shane was telling the truth and half hope he wasn't because that would mean someone else was willing to leave poop on the toilet seat for my kid to find. Either way: yuck.
