Project Closet (Backdated)

Project closet is underway. We hired Nelson, the guy who impressed Carrie from the bathroom team.

The contractor team ripping up the house across the street quoted $3,000. Nelson works for $250 a day plus materials and he's very, very good.

Day 1 he cleared out the closets, built the frames, and threw up the insulation. He also installed a light switch and three lights.

Day 2 he hung dry wall. All of it.

The angles make it really hard to get a good picture. The reality is we're adding at least 20 square feet to the floor plan in the form of 'his and her' closets.

This is great since we had a pretty, but useless short hallway we threw a door up in front of.

Since we're saving a lot more than we planned, Carrie has a list of other jobs for Nelson to take care of. It's good timing for him, too. He left the bathroom crew, because he felt like their quality was too inconsistent. Then he went home to El Salvador for a while and came back ready to work.

So far, he's knocked it out of the ballpark. Carrie's happy. She's already singing his praises to the neighbors. He may end up having a job or two lined up after us.

Tomorrow, Nelson is going to bring a friend to begin hanging crown molding and painting the bedroom.  Carrie is on a mission to increase the value and sell-ability of our house. That requires an upgraded master bedroom and a nice kitchen.

I'm in no rush to fix the drippy kitchen faucet. The bedroom is certainly coming along, though!
