I love the location of Shane's practice, but wish it was later in the day. We went from 5 minutes early to 5 minutes late when a school bus couldn't finish loading.
We weren't the only ones. I saw Jonas' and Sam's cars stuck behind us.
The coach had to have been worried when practice started and he only had two kids on the field!
It looks like we're up to 6 kids now. Iker and a new player, Abdullah, showed up. I felt bad we missed the game on Saturday when we don't have enough players when everyone shows up (Sam said, "Where were you!?").
Shane was a snot. He was high on life, energy, and giggles. He was running around hugging other kids, chanting "butt-butt-butt," spitting, and not listening very well. He hung on to the coach's leg for a while.
The coach seems too nice/passive. I was sitting far away hoping he would self correct, or the coach would straighten him out. However, the guy would say things like, "If you all would like to come over here...," instead of, "Line up here" and Shane probably stopped listening after "like."
I walked over and stood by the field for the last 15 minutes and Shane toned it way down. The other kids were pretty ramped up by then, though.
Shane and I had a talk after practice. I'm glad he's fun spirited, but I told him he needed to have fun in a respectful way that helps the practice if he wants to be able to earn any computer time next week.
I would have made him go straight home, but Anthony asked if Shane could stay and play.
I was happy to say, "I would have made you go home, but it's important to be a good friend." Or it was something like that. I forget.
Anthony's a good kid, Shane was thrilled to play, and the weather wasn't terrible. Anthony's dad is very quiet, so I mainly sat on the ground for the next hour and tried not to be too cold.
Playing well with a friend was a much nicer note to end practice on than a consequence.
