Random Thoughts

I don't want Shane to get lost in guilt or dwell too long upon mistakes......but I'd like it if he acted remorseful for longer than 0.01 seconds.

It feels like it takes Shane half an hour to feel like he really knows someone. If he sees them out in public a handful of times and then sees them at someone's house (theirs or ours), they're like family. I think he'd hop in a car with them without hesitation. Meanwhile, it takes me years.

Raheem has started to walk up to our house to meet us on the way to the bus stop. His house is at the bus stop, so that's more than a few steps backwards. He probably figures if he misses the bus I'll somehow drive him. Corollary: Raheem was standing at the end of the street when we came home from TKD one day. Whether by design or accident, he was looking our way, spotted us, and then started to jump in the air and run up towards our house.

From summer to full swing: It's the fourth week of school and it already feels like we're going ahead full steam. So far, it's been a good start. Busy and demanding, but a healthier environment than the way last year ended.

Mike's Serviceable Ale: It's drinkable. How's that for a tag line? I made 7 beers in my first batch. It's a limited edition since I don't plan on doing it again. I drank one Saturday and didn't get sick, so I proceeded to hand out the remainder. I gave one to John McM at the park, drank one with Silas while he played horse with Raheem, handed a pair as a belated bday to Will and Michaela, and the last one has Patrick's name on it unless I need the bottle for my final batch.

"Woman, you have got to stop sending me things if there is an addiction component to them!" Sonya said to Carrie. So far, Carrie has introduced Sonya to Wegmans fruit tarts, Lebanon sweet bologna, halloumi cheese, dipping balsamic vinegar, candied bacon, ginger ale + v8 mango splash, and Mountain Dew Kickstart. My wife loves to visit Nibs and Sonya.
