We upgraded all of our stall doors to sliding bolt latches a while back. There had been too many 'incidents.'
Now there's a new type of incident. Do you see the hair?
Maddie's discovered the joys of itching her ass on the latches. Then she learned she could use the latch to reach under the muzzle for those hard to access scratches.
And through itching, she learned how to open doors.
It's not every time, but it's enough times. Maddy opens the door and stands (an itchy) watch. Lorelai scoots in to eat hay in the shade. It's a heist!
The first time, I was left wondering if I didn't latch the door shut correctly. By the second time, we'd initiated the "lock all doors and latch all gates" procedure to prevent a full blown escape attempt.
We've got to keep our eyes especially open whenever it rains. The girls like to spend at least part of the time under the lean-to, dry and plotting!
