Carrie signed Shane up for TKD day camp Monday, so she could work and do barn chores without him underfoot. She went to pick him up while I made pierogis for dinner.
I was surprised when they brought a tadpole home.
Shane caught the tadpole at a park during day-camp. He begged Mommy to keep it.
Carrie's a soft spot for any animal. She took Shane to Petsmart and looked up what we'd need. It cost $23 that Shane didn't have. Carrie made him promise to do his reading and writing for the next 5 weeks or we'd ditch the tadpole.
They set to work making a tank/future-terrarium once they got home.
I was a little annoyed they were so late when I'd timed dinner (and left the oven on for Carrie's mini-pizza), but I had to admit it was a cool Shane and Mommy shared moment.
Shane won't stop checking on the little guy and Carrie keeps popping over, as well. Like mother, like son!
This is so cool! And I love it that Shane and Carrie enjoy nature so much. Do you remember when the Brandenburgs had so many tree frogs in their back yard? They kept containers of water on their back porch for the tree frogs and their tadpoles and gave us some, which we brought back to our kitchen. I can't remember much of it except that it was exciting. I used to worry about all the mosquitoes that grew in the standing water containers on the Brandenburgs back porch, but maybe the tree frogs ate them. The Brandenburgs loved their tree frogs at any rate. Love, Mom
