It's a Fort

Our house can be fairly quiet. Carrie objects to loud noises in general and she is highly opposed to thudding footfalls in specific, because Nova sleeps below us during the day (exactly when, no one knows).

Combine that with Shane's aversion to quiet and innate hyper-activity and you sometimes have a powder keg. We don't usually have non-family visitors between the house needing to be cleaned and Shane getting amped and loud when a friend is over (which hypes up the friend and makes them loud, too!).

Thursday was a mostly normal day. It was wet outside and no kids were in the circle, so Shane had to entertain himself inside. Carrie was working on a major project and he kept trying to crawl on her and invade her personal space (he doesn't take hints). Then he switched to building a fort which may have made a few thuds and eventually pushed Carrie over the edge. She retreated upstairs to work and to avoid blowing up. That meant I skipped my board game meetup and stayed in charge.

It ended up being a neat little fort. The cats liked it.

I let Shane hop on the computer to play some Lego Lord of the Rings when it hit 7:00 PM. Electronics are a guaranteed way to get him to slow down.
