Thanksgiving 2016

Carrie wanted a QUIET Thanksgiving. She was ready to rest after all of the crazy preceding it.

We turned on our TV for the third time this year and watched the parade.

Shane played sous chef. He peeled carrots.

I got him cleaned up, changed, and then out of the cook's hair. It was a gorgeous day outside (64 degrees?).

We played on our own until a new friend approached. Sometimes you have to hang around a playground a while before other kids sense the fun.

Mommy called for help, though. She forgot to take something to the barn, so Shane and I ran home through the woods.

By "ran," I mean we played in the stream and he chose the long way.

Shane inspected the sawdust pile when we arrived.

Note: It was still beautiful outside. We were in no hurry to get home for dinner.

But we did go home. We ate! Slow-cooked, bacon-wrapped turkey thighs, cheddar mashed potatoes with hickory salt, and carrots cooked in the meat juice. We watched The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe as a family to finish the night.
