Farewell, Boo

We said goodbye to Boo today.

Carrie first found and adopted Boo 18 years ago. She got in trouble for it, too. Her brother, Chris, came home unexpectedly while Grandma and Grandpa were away. Carrie wasn't there and there was a new cat stashed in his room. Carrie got a call from Mom-mom saying, "You'd better get home, dear."

Eventually, Boo won Grandma over and became 'her' cat. It's been that way for longer than I've known Carrie.

Grandma knew that Boo was nearing the end before she left for France. She told Carrie that she trusted her to make a decision if the time came. Boo has been emaciated, puking daily, and she started to nip more and pee on the carpet upstairs, so Carrie made a vet appointment.

The vet looked Boo over and guess that she had advanced intestinal lymphoma. Given Boo's age and physical state, there was no treatment that could be offered.

Carrie made the call and decided to let Boo rest. She wanted to make sure Boo knew she was there with her till the end.

We had a quiet, reflective night at the house. It brought back memories of Min for me. Max and Bucket came out of the woodwork and Bucket made it her mission to sleep on Carrie.
