It was the Mondayist Monday.
Daylight savings stole an hour on Sunday. There was a full moon overnight. The power cut off while I was trying to make copies for class.
What could happen next?
The power flickered on and off while I cleared out the resulting jam, but then stayed off. Thankfully, I had some copies of some stuff to work with before I gave up.
I heard the story from a student: A car crashed into a power pole close by the school. There were some late buses, darkness, and a bunch of hyper kids wanting to know if they could go home or take the day off.
Meanwhile, my laptop was drained, the projector didn't work, wifi died, and I had to call some audibles and teach with what I happened to already have copied and ready.
It got a little worse when word came down that students were going to stay in first block for an extra 35 minutes after I'd carefully paced out everything and was wrapping up.
There were lots of cranky, cooped-up kids who kept trying to sneak out of the room to roam the school in the dark and I was out of material, but we made it through. The power came back on a little after two hours of being in the dark and my second block was able to start like normal.
The week should only get better!
