Beach 2017 - Day 5

Beach week has been a primer for parenthood for Matt and Renee.

The got their fill of being snuggled and climbed upon. Their baby isn't due until near Halloween.

I don't think Nana can ever get enough of young grandkids.

We all went to the playground instead of the beach this morning.

It's important to mix it up. Keeps the kids and the adults sane.

We're a big enough group en masse other kids are attracted to our orbit (just like when I was a kid).

We hung out and had our afternoon snack there.

Shane learned Cheetos and sand are the wrong type of crunchy.

We visited the camp nature center next.

Megan dropped me off with the three boys and drove the golf cart back to pick up the rest of the crew.

The kids are all driven by curiosity.

There was a sand box to dig up fossils outside.

The adults took pictures to stay entertained.

Cell phones have truly changed the world.

The kids love the electronics, too. As long as they use them together, I think it's a great social opportunity.....for them and us. It's much easier to talk when the kids aren't going bonkers.

Shane really wanted to dig deep enough to hit water when we did go to the beach.

He enlisted Matt and I and then assigned himself most of the credit.

It was a quieter night when we returned to the house for the day. The kids played games and Renee put on a movie that night if I recall correctly (The Intern). That could have been Thursday night, though. I'm writing this a week later, so my memory is not the freshest and there's a lot to remember!

Before the movies started, I asked Shane if he wanted to teach Renee a board game. I was surprised he said yes. He turned down tablet time! I took a quick picture of him trying to explain King of Tokyo.
