Shane got sick just in time for his birthday. He was congested Monday, sounded worse Tuesday, and started to run near a fever Tuesday night. It didn't break a 100, but he coughed all night long and caused Carrie to lose sleep. Shane woke up Wednesday in the 99s and sounding rough. Carrie decided to keep him home with her.
And so Shane missed school and the school field trip to the theater for his birthday. Bad timing.
I think he still enjoyed himself in between blowing his nose. Carrie watched a bunch of Ninjago with him and there were presents. Carrie offered Shane the choice between presents or party. He chose presents. Shane really wanted another drone.
It arrived.
Neat thing. It fit our price constraints, had good reviews, and has a built in camera. Carrie hooked it up after I got home and it flies way more consistently than our old, cheap drone.
I think I'm going to make Shane pick a party next year. He's had them before he was school age. I want him to have at least one, so that he knows what he's picking between (Plus, he seems the party type).
Nana called to wish Shane a happy birthday afterward. Then he opened up some Pokemon cards from her. He recognized Lugia right away.
I got home around 6, but Shane seemed happy enough for being sick. Happy birthday, kid.
UPDATE: He didn't cough at all through the night either, so the worst of the cold has passed on. Back to school!
We always gave y'all presents for your birthday. In top of that, we also offered each of you $100 to not have a birthday party. Parties are expensive. Usually everyone wanted a party. Lazer tag was a favorite place. But every family must choose their own traditions. Shane is a happy and very blessed boy to have 2 Christian parents who love God, each other and him.
