The Adventure South

Shane woke up ready to travel. The cats were shocked they were included.

Carrie reminded me to take an allergy pill.

Max enjoyed the start of the ride, but Bucket was terrified. She shed a mountain of fur.

Both cats wanted to lay claim to Carrie's lap (Can you tell who is their favorite?).

Our first stop wasn't too far down the road. Carrie wanted to check in on Captain since he had a long farrier appointment the day before.

Shane, Max, Bucket, and I stayed in the car. I couldn't stop laughing when we got a visitor.

The cats weren't as pleased.

Like father, like son: Shane was also amused.

The cats antics kept us entertained for a long portion of the trip. I'd wanted to get an audio copy of Harry Potter 3 (The Prisoner of Azkaban), but was unable to.

Then Carrie had told Shane to bring his bag of books to the car while she herded cats. He didn't.

So the cats were the main source of entertainment. They didn't have food or water, but we did have a litter box set up in the back of the wagon.

Good news: Bucket used the litter box.

Bad news: Bucket used the litter box.

Carrie had to save me, the driver, a couple of times from cat exploration.

Thankfully, this shot was taken at our second destination.

We dropped by Sonya's to visit Nibs.

Carrie and Sonya have grown close over the past year. She hopped out and Shane and I followed along eventually.

Carrie and Sonya talked and combed out manes...,

...while Shane and I checked out some rescue minis and explored.

He knows his way around the barn by now. I was really thankful I took my allergy pill (I need to start my horse allergy shots. The serum showed up in November, but wrestling season started and stole my availability for office hours).

Bucket found a new hiding spot when we were ready to hop back on the road.

Carrie will probably force me to delete this picture, but I love it. Enjoy it now. You may not see it later.

We took the scenic route through rural VA and hopped back on 29 north of Danville. From there, it was smooth sailing. We managed to avoid a lot of traffic and beat Nana, Pop, and Jama home.

Thankfully, I had a key. Pop gave it to me when they had stopped by on their way north. We were unpacked and settled when the Shane Spoiling Crew arrived!

My kid could not come down from cloud nine. He's been waiting and dreaming of the next time he got to visit SC. Kathleen, Stu, and Crew were sadly up north visiting Stu's family, but we'd get to see them later on.

Nana and Pop's return meant there was one other family member who got to introduce herself to everyone: Indy Ana.

The cats were not amused.

Indy was not amused by them either. Friendship looks unlikely.
