Shane woke up at midnight, 4 AM, and 6 AM to tell us his ear hurt. He was calm the first time, crying the next two. I got up with him at 6 AM. We hung out and then drove over to the Urgent Care to greet them as they opened. The predicted snow was a melted bust.
It took the doctor a total of two minutes to confirm both of Shane's ears looked infected.
We were at CVS to greet the pharmacist as they opened up.
Then I picked up chicken feed. It's related, but it's not.
Anyway, the snow and swimming party Saturday became a sick day. Shane's fever climbed as the day went on. We watched Despicable M3, played video games, and stayed inside. Shane was really bummed about missing his friend's swimming party.
Not that he would have been able to do much there. He fell asleep in the car outside of Lowe's.
I'd taken Shane out of the house for an errand after Carrie passed out on the couch. I sat in the car for half an hour while Shane snoozed. When Shane woke up, he said, "It only felt like a minute."
I carried him in and then plopped him in a cart. He stayed there, too.
He still looked tired and groggy when we got dinner at Costco.
We'll see how long it takes all the meds to take off the edge. The doctor gave Shane three prescriptions this time: an oral antibiotic, ear drops, and a steroid for his snotty lungs. I almost didn't turn the steroid prescription in to the pharmacist after the doctor said, "the steroids can make him hyper." All I wanted was the oral antibiotic. I figured the ear drops were bonus.
Carrie's a rule follower with that stuff, though. She not only convinced Shane to take the ear drops and steroid, she made sure he stuck to the regimen.
