Swimmingly

Shriya is in Shane's swim class and has been there early the last couple of times we've shown up.

Shane greets her with a, "CANNONBALL!" and much splashing. He's locked his legs around her waist and they've wrestled and splashed around.

"Let me know if she's too shy to tell him to cut it out...," I said to Shriya's mom.

"Oh, she's fine. She has an older brother and is total tomboy," Shriya's mom replied. "She'll tell him off if she feels like it."

Whew!

She continued, "People always ask me that. I wonder why?"

I know why I said it. Shane's exuberant and doesn't always know when to knock it off. He's that way with everyone he meets! I worry about it most when the other kid seems to be quieter, but I'd check-in with the parent of a hot-head, too (That's a different sort of budding problem).

As for why people ask, about Shriya: She was giving it right back to Shane, but she was less expressive. If she was saying anything back, it was lost in the sounds of the splashing and I couldn't hear it! I wasn't sure if she was having a blast, annoyed, or somewhere in between. She certainly didn't seem to be running off, but I didn't want the other parent to think I wasn't aware of what my kid was doing to hers! Whether true or not (My sisters were certainly tough), people tend to view girls as less likely to enjoy roughhousing.

I have plenty of time to sit and think in between fiddling with my phone while Shane swims. I wish it wasn't like a sauna in there, though.
