Shane and I spent our first night since closing at our temporary base of operations: Grandpa and Grandma's house. Carrie's been there since we rolled out of our old house. She dropped Grandma and Grandpa off at the airport Friday and now we're house-sitting.
The morning was spent together on the couch as Shane played Kirby. Carrie's missed us!
I snuck in a selfie.
Life here would be quiet if not for the cats. Boo is 18 years old, has thyroid problems, and is the most skeletal cat I've ever pet. She's still very sociable with people, but crotchety when it comes to other cats.
Of which we have two.
Boo isn't happy at all with sharing her house. She growls and hisses whenever either of our cats come anywhere near. It's startling loud. I've seen her hop off a couch to go for a whack, but Boo's usually content to snarl.
Thankfully, both of our cats aren't aggressive in return. Max stands her ground and refuses to be intimidated. She likes to be outside, and Boo doesn't go out there. Bucket runs for cover and spends most of her time in her designated safe zone.
We've tried to teach Bucket how to use the cat door with limited success. She still tries to use windows. Bucket's not the bravest or smartest little thing.
Saturday afternoon, we took a family trip to Richmond to retrieve the Subaru. The body work was finally repaired from when the deer hit it.
Carrie spotted a uniquely named restaurant nearby we hit for lunch.
A+.
The trip took a chunk of time, but there was plenty of day left to chill at the house. I re-introduced Shane to Othello with limited success (he likes patterns).
Carrie and I ended up watching Saving Mr. Banks while Shane had some electronic time of his own (and came in and out of the room to check on us).
Carrie's been wound up tight since the closing. She's in charge of "the office" while her parents are overseas and really appreciated the quiet time. Shane and I are driving off tomorrow after church for Aunt Cathie's funeral is on her mind, but we'll be back for some more quiet time on Monday.
