Our First Clinic

The corn was well over "knee-high before the 4th of July" when Carrie and I went out to prepare our property. A local trainer reached over a couple of months ago about using our land to hold a riding clinic.

We were out early and hard at work. I moved everything out of the arena for it to be dragged and then moved everything back into the arena so that Carrie could mow the perimeter (Which then led to everything being moved back out of the arena again!).

We cleaned the barn up, too, in case anyone wandered in. Sam's stall was due to be stripped anyway.

Carrie had let up on the poop shoveling was I was gone. I scooped three buckets full before I call it quits for the day (Each bucket average 60-70 lbs when full...).

One of our own was the first rider. Ellie and Magic took the 9 AM slot.

The trainer set up her own markers all around the arena.

Only one pair was in the arena at a given time. Carrie directed trailers to circle around the house and make a queue as people arrived each hour for their time slot.

It was a busy affair, but not crowded by any measure.

Most of our work was done in the early morning. I stayed inside with Shane while Carrie occasionally went out to direct traffic and get waivers signed.

It was a successful outing. We bartered with the trainer where she gave Laura a free lesson on Sam as part of the deal of using our property.

We'd love to host another clinic, but I couldn't tell you when. We've got the land. We spend lots of time taking care of the land. It's good to put it to use. Getting everything ready weighed on Carrie some, so it was great to see it executed well.
