Grandma and Grandpa came over for a cookout Monday! And by cook out, I really mean "cook in." It's been stupid hot and humid.
They only stayed outside long enough to inspect the garden with Shane.
They stepped over Shane's porch decorations without noticing. I busted him and took the sharpie when I noticed (He'd been making signs to start a store and had an impulse). It took Carrie a few more days and I'm waiting to see how many visits it takes Grandma and Grandpa.
But back to the story at hand: Food! Grandma and Grandpa brought bratwurst, toppings, and banana bread. We supplied the burgers.
Loki was so excited to have visitors.
Grandpa may come around to the dog side thanks to him!
Meanwhile, Bucket hid. People? Noise? Dog? Cabinet.
Normally, it would have been blocked off, but we moved things around picking up.
Food and visitors are fun!
One of these days, I'm going to get everyone to play some of my board games again. Today, it was rummy. Shane got to play a lot of computer while the adults talked, but I pulled him off and made him play some cards, too.
Grandma and Grandpa like to talk business, news, family, and lots of topics Shane finds "boring." I'm thinking that tune will change eventually, but I was happy to let him sit on my computer so that I could have some adult conversation.
It was a longer visit, but Grandpa wanted to get on the road before it got dark. He got a surprise when he got in the car. The heat and direct sun cooked the glue that held up his rear view mirror!
And that's why I miss spring! Fall weather is a couple months away, so the AC will be blowing here.
