It rained for two days straight before we went to the pool Wednesday. Shane learned rain makes pools cold.
He developed a newfound affection for the hot concrete.
I told him most people lay on a towel. He was fuzzy on the concept.
We experimented with the wind to occupy break time.
Shane showed some real improvement on his ability to swim. He acts like it's terrifying if I try to prompt him to float or practice, but if it's his idea? He was actually stretching out, using both arms, kicking, and swimming for a second or three at a time. It was never long enough to misconstrue him as being a swimmer, but enough to show he's made progress. The waves at the beach helped.
Shane wanted to investigate the playground when it was time to go (of course).
When we doubled back to the car, Shane noticed a stair attached to the lot.
It looked shaded, so we explored. I was an easy sell.
Shane gets his curiosity from me.
It was a bog park according to the sign. Shane asked me what a bog was when we made our ascent.
I got sunburned again. Right on the lotion. Which is why I wore under armor when we went to the other pool on Friday (no cotton allowed).
I get a lot of pictures of Shane running toward pools. He doesn't wait for me to put my phone up or take my shoes off.
"Can I go to the playground during break?"
"Yes."
It was over 90 degrees out and Shane didn't want to go. No shirt, no sunburn, no problem.
The final summer tally was six visits. Two short of equaling the investment. Maybe we'll go after school or on a teacher workday before the pools close. We'll know to sign up sooner next year.
That place looks fantastic! What fun! Shane has such a great life! I'm sorry you got sunburned. Be careful with that so you don't get skin cancer later.
