Advent Season

Shane was excited, because he got to play with fire in church. We were asked to light the advent candles for the second week in the season.

Shane did a better job lighting the candles than I did reading. He was supposed to wait for me to read, but he couldn't hold himself back. I started to read, but flipped to the wrong page while he was up on tiptoes with fire! I looked at the monitors, but they weren't updating and stumbled a bit but got through nonetheless!

Those sort of situations help me to be humbler (They're funny and let me empathize with anyone else called on to read out loud, too!).

Shane was happy to see other kids for the Children's message. They made ornaments in Sunday School and he loved it.

We went into town for errands in between house and horse chores. Shane helped me at the recycling center.

We stopped at the FLGS for him to spend some birthday money before hitting up Costco for gas and groceries.

He probably would have bought more if I hadn't called it quits! I was happy that he chose the lowest cost art variant for each card he wanted, at least. That should stretch his funds a little bit.

I would have been happier if he was actually playing the Pokemon card game lately, but he stared at the cards the whole way home and put them on display in his window. The money from Nana is his to spend. If he spends it foolishly it will disappear sooner and maybe a lesson will be learned. I will encourage him to spend it wisely, because I think that's a much more palatable lesson!

It is a little weird that Shane has cash to get his own presents before Christmas. It's going to make our own Santa shopping a little trickier.
