There was a special children's service today. The kids were supposed to sing.
The pastor had to survive the children's message first! He asked the kids to name different animals and people who were in the nativity scene. If they got it right (with or without help), he'd pull out the figure for them to place in front of the church.
It went fairly well, but there was definitely some kid chaos thrown in here and there! One preschooler wanted to keep hers, another wanted to put it somewhere else, and then some kids got grabby and argued over where to place things!
Shane got a lesson in personal space. Julia ("She's got a crush on me!") kept tackling him with hugs!
He's normally the space invader, so he got a taste of his own medicine! Ha!
After the kid's message, the kids all left to get into costume. The preschoolers had one song and the older kids had another. Shane looked a little down in the picture, but he liked playing the drums.
He came back to the pew and sat next to me in costume.
"Don't you want to change?" I asked.
"Nah. I like it."
Just because a church is more traditional doesn't mean there can't be some fun and silliness in it!
