Solo Week: In Heat (The Stretch!)

 Outside, it's getting cold.

Inside, it's heating up. Loki can't get enough of Kila.

It started a few days before Carrie and Shane left. Kila used to jump on Loki and he'd scoot off. Now, she'd jump on him and he'd hold his ground and scoot his nose under her.

Kila's still the boss, but Loki's decided he likes the abuse. He's licking his chops, panting, and on her tail.

Kila hasn't fully figured out the paradigm shift yet. She's still smaller than him and her old wrestling moves no longer seem to work quite the same way (Plop!).

Not that Loki knows what to do either! It's hilarious watching the two of them bumble around.

I imagine Loki's saying, "Woman? WOMAN! Wo-man! Wo-man!

Dogs are normally up in each other's business, but the new twist pushes up the age rating.

I'd tell the two to get a room, but we don't want Kila having puppies before she's a year old!

I don't want to yell any corrections, because we want the two to hook up eventually.

It's a distraction, to say the least! I have to chaperone to make sure there's no accidental success...and even when I don't want to chaperone, they seem to decide to play at my feet.

Carrie's out of town, I miss her, and the dog's won't stop flirting to remind me of it!

The situation continues to change daily. Loki's started to lick Kila's ears.

It's an evolution from staring into her eyes and panting. She doesn't seem to mind.

But again....they're at my feet! I can hear Loki licking even when I try to type! I pulled Kila up on the chair next to me to give her (and me) a break, but then she insisted I paid attention to her instead of my computer.

It's gotten to where I  separate them whenever I'm trying to concentrate on something.

Loki normally gets the kitchen side, because he's smarter at pushing through the gate. He doesn't wander off. He stays at the gate to the promised land until it opens once again.

Kila might whisper nothings to him through the bars, but she's just as likely to plop down and sleep next to me.

I wonder how awkward this is for the cats. Max is getting older and can't jump the barrier, so I have to keep where she is in mind when I put it up.

Kila's able to create distance when she feels like it. She likes to sleep on the couch whereas Loki knows he's banned from it.

She huddled in behind me to bed down when I was watching TV one evening.

Loki bedded down in front of us.

On one hand, I'm grateful for all the hubbub. The house feels empty without Carrie and Shane and the turds making a racket gives me something to think about (even if they do kill any focus I might have for blogging!).

Though I should be watching the littlest turd closer. She's teething and her favorite items are usually fabric like leashes and shoe laces.

It's alllllways something.
