Most of Carrie's projects turn out well, but everyone now and then there's a clunker to keep her humble. This time, she bought a used freezer bin she spotted online. It was big enough that she wanted to install a partition to store our feed and balancer in it.
The cost: $50. First person with cash to haul it away won. Carrie not only hauled it away, but she put it in the barn by herself ("Don't ask me how.").
Unfortunately, Carrie discovered it was unusable while cleaning it out. There was rush and paint peeling off. Carrie didn't want paint chips and rust to end up mixed in with horse feed, so she decided to cut her losses.
I helped her load the freezer bin back. It's easier to unload than load, but I am impressed Carrie was able to get it off the truck and where it needed to be (even if she backed the truck into the barn).
It'll cost us $20 to dispose of the bin at the dump. We could leave it rusting out on our land. That's something I never understood people doing until I had a ton of land laying around. It's easy to do and costs nothing!
At least it's preloaded on the trailer for our next dump run. The total loss will be about $70, but that's manageable. You can't shoot for the moon without taking a few risks on the way.
Good attitude! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And $70 is no big deal.
