Carrie got off work early and did a bad thing. She had us hide from Shane.
Shane looks forward to being latchkey. As long as he contacts us and takes care of any immediate animal needs, he gets free electronics until one of us gets home. Unfortunately for him, wrestling is over! I'm going to be home the rest of the year!
So there I was, home for the first time (last week). Carrie came home early excited to see me. The dogs saw the bus, barked, and Carrie said, "Quick! Let's hide!"
Shane came in singing.
The tune was something like: "It's a good, good day. You don't understand. My mom's not home. Oh yeah!"
I was torn between laughing and feeling bad for the kid. He was going to so embarrassed when we popped out! We sat on the couch when he went into the rabbit room. He was not happy when he realized we were there!
I almost didn't post the second video. It's definitely embarrassing for Shane. Mistakes are meant to be learned from and forgiven. There are some that are meant to be laughed at, too! So many months have passed I feel better about posting this, because it's not a thorn that stuck around.
But "It's a good, good day!" is now a part the family vernacular for the better! I tell Shane that I think his energy level and joy is a gift/personal strength. He just has to learn when to reign it in and when to fully unleash it.
BONUS: I uploaded the same video on April 15th and on June 8th. Oops. I'm writing this July 9th (talk about a work in progress...)
