Tonight was Carrie's late night, but it turned out to be an easy one. The weather was gorgeous, so Shane and I spent the evening out on the driveway playing with trucks.
At one point, Daniel wandered outside with his mom. Shane yelled "It's Daniel!" Daniel saw Shane, and he dragged his mom across the street. Soon, the boys were playing and life was peachy keen.
Michael, Daniel's dad, got home from work and took over. We were going to take the boys to Chic-Fil-A, but Jessica, Daniel's mom, happened to drive off with both their child seats in her van. We ended up going over to Daniel's house and Michael cooked the boys chicken nuggets. We fathers spent the night talking and watching the boys play.
They were great together. We sat down in the kitchen and talked while the boys wandered back and forth dumping out cars and playing with toy trains. It was a far easier (and pleasant) night than I imagined. I really hope Shane ends up being fast friends with Daniel as he grows older like I became family with Billy and Daniel's family.
When Shane got cranky, we wandered home for bedtime. Carrie came home later and we just finished Season 2 of Dr. Who.
Have I mentioned that I love Fall?
