Wrestling: The League of Nations

Coach P once remarked that our team "is like the League of Nations."

On Varsity, we have a half-Mexican/half-Dominican, a Colombian, a pair of Koreans, a Vietnamese, a Japanese/Marianas islander, an Indian, and a couple of other kids from far off countries in addition to our 'homegrown' boys. One of our Korean wrestlers left practice early over break to turn in his green card and get his citizenship papers (and was heartily congratulated the next day). If you include our JV team we have students from Indonesia, El Salvador, and I'm still discovering where else!

We live in a very diverse area. I enjoy it. I think that it makes life more interesting to have people around with such different stories and backgrounds forming the tapestries of their lives. My son's best friend across the street is half-Egyptian. Ganeet (not Janet!) is his best friend at school.

I normally don't stop to think about it. It's normal for me. I've discovered I like a wide variety of food, too!
