I've had the same wallet for nearly 20 years. It's a funny story.
I had a wallet or two when I first got my license. After experimenting with a few (and maybe losing one), I decided I didn't really care whether I had a wallet or not. I kept my license, credit card, and any other essentials together with a rubber band.
This bothered my friend Igor immensely. Honestly, I think it embarrassed him!
He got so fed up with it one day he handed me a wallet and said something like, "Damn it, Mike! Use this!" There may have been a "No friend of mine..." or something of the like, but I don't recall the exact words.
Igor caught me totally flat footed. It was a generous gesture and I couldn't think of a reason to say no.
I've used the wallet since. It's been around the world with me and back. There are still three alien stickers on it from when I bought stickers at my first full time teaching gig.
Hopefully, I'll still have the same 20 years from now.
