Bears

I dropped by the house before I went to pick up Shane today. I had a surprise as I pulled out of the driveway.

A pair of blackbears crossed the highway maybe 100 yards down the road from us!

I crawled by to see if I could see them in the woods. I saw them with my eyes, but it didn't translate to the camera. A car appeared on the horizon behind me, so I kept on driving.

It's odd thinking about bears being so close to our farm. Horses are much larger than bears and shouldn't be under a physical threat, but the smell can make them spook. We will have electric lines around our pastures, so even if a bear wanders on to our property I don't think they'd want to return.
