Carrie was tired and sore, so she called Shane's school. "Put him on the bus." (Though, more politely).
And just like that Shane was an afternoon bus rider.
Loki's bummed, but I think it's a good growth opportunity for Shane. He's more than old enough to manage getting on a bus and getting himself to our front door.
Shane said it was weird crossing the street in front of the bus, but otherwise there were no problems.
Carrie and I talked about it and she made the call to make him a afternoon bus rider for the rest of the school year.
Overall, it seems to be working. Shane needs to up his game on a few things. His bus driver told me that Shane's more bouncy, spastic, and distracted in the afternoons! He needs to get up quickly when it's his stop, make his way off the bus, make eye contact with her for permission to cross the road, and NOT signal other cars to stop as he goes.
Yup. That's my son. The driver described him to a t.
