Our Valentine's Day this year was special: Carrie volunteered to babysit Landie!
First stop was the bunny, of course.
Carrie had offered Ellie the babysitting as a chance for her to go into town with her boyfriend. Carrie never does anything halfway, so she made homemade mac and cheese and bacon-cheese biscuits (I enjoyed the picture updates of her cooking while I was at work!).
The kids watched Lion King 1.5 as they ate.
I nearly choked on cheese when Landie complained her mac and cheese wasn't cheesy enough! She's probably used to the neon orange "it's not really cheese" is what I told Carrie. My own system was nearly in shock from all the (delicious) lactose.
Landie isn't one to sit still for long, so she was up, moving, and back with the bunny before long.
Carrie took the lead on supervision and photography.
She sent Ellie a pic or two, so that she knew Landie was doing well! Landie's dad passed on not too far back.
Landie told Shane she was sorry she missed his birthday party, because she was sick. "So you should come to my birthday party!"
Happy was the next animal/victim.
Shane pulled her out from under a chair to show Landie "his" cat. Landie wanted to hold a cat, too, so she grabbed Max!
Happy actually likes the cuddles, so she hung around with the kiddos when they took electronic break #2.
She got up and hid once the kids got mobile again!
What would Valentine's Day be without some sort of sweets? Carrie helped the kiddos dip and drizzle some strawberries.
Carrie packed up some to go for Landie to take home with her when Ellie arrived before bedtime. It was a fun night. Shane loved having a visitor!
For the record, I didn't forget what day it was. I'd bought a fruit trifle for Carrie on Sunday and hid it in the fridge outside. I'd thought she'd share it with Shane at dinner, but she found it early (It didn't last!).
