River is here and a part of the family. The road has not been smooth, but it's reach an equilibrium of sorts.
River has staked out the dining room as her safe spot. She spends most of the day asleep in a chair or on the table.
She can't climb or leap as high as the other cats. The lack of claws has caused her to slip and fall off the back of the couch, too.
Most of the time there's an uneasy truce between the cats. River prefers to venture forth when Max is outside and Bucket is snoozing. There haven't been any cat fights, but the occasional hiss and/or pecking order check still occurs.
Bucket went full neurotic when River first showed up. She acted like she forgot who Max was and bristled and swiped at any cat that came within reach. She and Max are back to cleaning each other, but not as frequently as before.
Max was the chief bully for a bit, but she's more interested in going on the deck than anything else.
River acts scared of both Max and Bucket.
During the lizard incident, Max walked up right next to River. When River noticed Max, she hissed and ran away.
Max didn't care. She was interested in the lizard.
Carrie took this shot another day.
The was one time I thought Bucket and River bonded in terror. A guy came to fix our dishwasher.
The chickens hid together, but it didn't stick.
If River was more confident and/or held her ground some I think that she'd get along better with the others. As is, she chooses to park by herself in the dining room most of the time.
Current co-habitation grade:
The cats don't necessarily get along or love each other, but there's no active abuse. No one's acting out and they all get some attention.
UPDATE: Downgraded them to a D+. There was a very brief squabble the next morning and then Bucket and Max crowded River out of the food bowl. They're not usually aggressive, but its' clear she's their stepping stool.
