Wednesday night, Ka got her wish. We took all of the kids to the carnival!
The boardwalk was close enough to walk with strollers. Only Nana and Pop remained home.
The kids are young enough obstacles are fun.
Novelty is novel.
Someone spotted a turtle on the way.
Shane had to touch it.
He moped afterwards, because I'd told him not to. I made continue on before the other kids. I didn't think it was a snapping turtle, but he's got to work on listening, thinking then acting. They're all simultaneous at the moment (assuming he listens and thinks!).
He got over it and we got to the carnival. To say there wasn't a crowd was an understatement....
...which worked out really well for us. Children aged two, four, and five aren't know for their patience with lines!
Evelyn attempted a ride, but it was quickly deemed a no go. Loudly.
Cole got squished in the middle of this one. He didn't like it, but Shane and B chortled happily.
We were able to stick together at first.
Shane and B were the two who really enjoyed the rides!
Shane showed his age and wanted to move on to bigger and bigger thrills.
That meant we had to go on solo.
Which is easiest enough to do when gratification is instant. Lines would have been a deal breaker.
We reunited with Cole for a fun house in the middle and the merry-go-round at the end.
Stu revealed he'd done the same as me. He'd kept track of the total tickets Cole would have needed in lieu of a wristband. Both boys rode enough rides that the unlimited paid off!
Evelyn didn't like rides, so she got a candy apple consolation prize.
"Zombie Baby" will be great for future embarrassment/blackmail! Here's a more normal pic.
The kids were the perfect age for the rides offered. If they were too much older, I imagine the complaints would have been irksome.
At the end, Shane really wanted to go on the Ferris wheel, but he wasn't tall enough to go alone. It was a good excuse to leave. Everyone was tired and B didn't feel well, so we wanted to go anyway (save Shane).
