Kila is the most chicken-hearted little thing. She barked up a storm at Ernie's mask when I picked it up from the field. Then she ran from me as long as I was carrying it!
Yet, she's still the boss of Loki. Go figure.
I didn't want Shane to miss Youth Group Wednesday, but I didn't feel right leaving Kila locked up the whole school day and then for the 2.5 hours for Youth Group.
So, I brought the dogs with us.
Shane wanted me to bring the dogs up the hill to the mass gathering. He's all about generating some buzz and attention!
However good that would be for him, I told him that it would be terrifying to Kila. Someone being harmed trumps somebody else having a good time (with parents being a possible exception to that rule!).
I spent the hour and a half of Youth Group walking the dogs around and trying not to get tangled in their leashes.
Loki was thrilled. He wanted to pee on everything.
I took a short break from leash gymnastics to rest in the car and mess with my phone.
But being on the move helped the dogs, so we got back to it. There was a deer that hung out some with us.
I brought the dogs up to wait outside the door for Shane. The kids normally come out piecemeal, so I was less worried about an overwhelming crowd.
Shane was excited to see Loki and Kila when he came out. "These are my dogs!" He shouted. There was a parenting class exiting at the same time, so there was a stream of younger kids coming out that came our way. Loki was happy to meet everyone with Shane, but Kila cowered between my legs the whole time. We hung out for at least 10 minutes for Shane to enlighten people about Shelties.
It got us through the day, but I'm not going to bring the dogs to Youth Group again! It's much easier to let them hang out at the house with Carrie.
