With Shane out of town, Carrie and I got to spend a lot of time...not alone. We have many animals.
The horses are the only ones not allowed in the house. We have to go out to them.
I went with Carrie to take Lilly to Kim's place for a dressage lesson.
Where I got to meet more animals (which is great when they're dogs!).
Lilly has been doing well with her lessons. Carrie looks at it as an investment.
She said she enjoys playing horse-mom, too, where she gets to set and watch rather than do any of the work herself. We watched Lilly's lesson together.
I can't comment on the riding, but the arena at Kim's is magnificent. There's a giant mirror on the far end, too. Lilly's a snorty girl and you could hear her grunting (and sometimes farting) wherever she went!
Carrie left me to administer Lilly's post-lesson reward: Unfettered lawn access.
Jess was around and Carrie went to check in with her. Jess' wedding to Santi is coming up this summer. They'll have one ceremony in Colombia with his family (where they met) and another in Chicago with her family.
We didn't get a ton of visitors, though. We had a lot of quality, quiet time.
I'd take the dogs outside to stretch everyone's legs and get a breath of fresh air.
They long to hear the magic phrase: "Go-go-go!"
Indy's currently free-roaming and eating, so he walked up to us one day.
The dogs weren't sure what to make of it at first.
Indy gave me a look to see if I had food or was going to give him attention. I wasn't, so he moved on.
A car drove by and in the thrill of the chase the dogs forgot to stay shy.
Indy turns up in all sorts of places. I've had to shoo him out of garden ("Bushes aren't food!").
Carrie's made a round-pen for him we store him in for meals, etc.
I'm trying to remember what show Carrie and I were watching at the time. We normally have an anime we're working our way through together.
I took way more pictures of the dogs than the TV, though. They're cuter (and still haven't figured out further than the foreplay stage).
Carrie did have to go to work on Tuesday. It might have just been to pick something up, but this picture confirms I was there, too! We ate out and enjoyed our adult time while Shane was playing with the Southern branch of the family.
The farmers worked the fields around us all week, too.
Which made the dogs bark an annoying amount. It's fun to look at some, so I guess I should thank them for alerting me to it every now and then.
I was so glad to be off work. Fourth quarter and the final dash toward SOLs will begin once Break ends. It's been a good year, far better than the previous one, but I'm ready to wrap it up and call it summer.
