Something doesn't look right...
Carrie left the bedroom door propped open.
There's the reason why!
Carrie left the door open just enough for Piper to scoot through, but none of the larger cats. She wanted to give him a chance to branch out for the bedroom and explore.
I hope he won't learn any new bad habits from his elders.
Pip got to meet the dogs, too.
He's not sure what he thinks of them, yet.
In all fairness, they could have chased him when he was hiding out in the hay barn (They would have found that quite fun).
So far, the other cats have withheld judgement. They've been able to smell him through the door for a long time and he's young enough no one's acting threatened. We really want everyone to get along (especially me, because then Pip can move OUT of the bedroom and into gen-pop!).
Carrie was happy with how things were going, so she let it continue.
Pip has an explorer's spirit like Max so far.
He wandered here, there, and everywhere!
Carrie's repeated the process each day.
He feels safest near her.
And he's very interested in anything she tries to eat.
Or hold.
He's a shameless proponent for sharing. Carrie's enjoying it too much to discourage him (plus she's a pushover).
Happy is the only cat who doesn't seem to mind the occasional interaction with Pip, so far.
He might be my new favorite (Sorry, Aria). Pip has two strikes against him: 1) He's parked in my bedroom. 2) He's uncannily skilled at swatting toes. He knows how to put his paws under the covers to get at them. More than once, he's dived under the bed as I walked into the bedroom and ambushed my toes when I made it to my side of the bed to climb in! Thankfully, he doesn't use his claws.
What Pip has going for him is his general amiability and he can play fetch.
He's got "his rabbit" that he will charge after full speed. He'll vault off the bed and bring it back for you to throw again and again! That's a funny quirk for a cat.
Pip's not going anywhere, but at least he's a fun little dude who makes Carrie happy. I have to lock him in the bathroom at night to keep him from trying to play with our toes at all hours, but that should change when he moves out of the bedroom.
