Someone visiting the barn doesn't translate directly into a new boarder.
Someone visiting the barn with kids does translate into an impromptu play-date!
A woman dropped by with two young boys to check out the barn. Both were close to Shane's age. She went off with Carrie to talk and the kids all ran around the arena and played games with Loki.
They had a blast. The kids had Loki jumping hurdles. They herded him, they herded each other, and at some point Shane became a bull who would charge if he wasn't treated right. Later, Shane asked if he could get his new friends water and that somehow morphed into a restaurant game where he included snacks in the deal.
Where was I? I spent a lot of time in the barn in a chair. I half-listened to the women talk and kept an eye on the kids playing. They were playing really well, so I didn't need to do much except for a few warnings for throwing gravel dust on Loki.
To keep myself entertained, I took some pictures. I figure I can use some for the blog and the rest provide a record in case it's ever needed. I got some great shots of everyone running and jumping over poles together (Loki included!).
However, the mom asked Carrie to delete any pictures I took when they left.
So I did.
I mourned the loss of some great pics, but my greater calling is to show love. We probably won't see the woman again, but that doesn't mean she's not our neighbor. Plus, Carrie agreed and I didn't want to make my wife a liar.
So instead of pictures, you got to read some of my thoughts.
