Since we use the gator to haul poop, I use the wheelbarrow to transport hay.
Kila loves it in the most annoying way possible.
Pushing the wheelbarrow is a great way to find her when she runs off. She hears it coming and sprints over to herd me. Loki does the exact same thing with the gator (which honestly worries me), so it seems a sheltie trait.
Church was online Sunday. We streamed it after I shuttled hay.
Kila was spooked and growling at the little man in the box which caused Shane endless amusement!
Shane was in a rush to get his chores done, so that he could call someone to play online. If you look through the window, you can see we had visitors.
Laura and Amy arrived to do chores, but Carrie had already tackled a handful of them. She wants the barn to be presentable when they arrive. Sometimes, when she's going to trailer Lilly, she feels like she has to bring the other horses in, because they all go bonkers when she pulls Lilly in to prep her.
For now, Carrie prefers to be the one to handle the babies (Unless she's too tired or asleep and then it's all me!).
Shane and I stayed up for New Year's Eve, so I was all about taking the day to rest.
The cats agreed.
Carrie went to bed early, so she was wide awake. Maybe that's how she spotted our visitor.
That's no songbird. My camera doesn't do it justice.
The hawk has good camouflage, too.
The new car was a small change. Otherwise, we're the same people as last year. Shane's going through middle school, though, so we expect a lot of change there!
I'm not planning on any big changes professionally. I'll start my fifth year at the high school. That will make it the 2nd longest position I've stayed in (1st place - 6 years, 3rd place - 4 years).
We would like to breed Kila once she's past the year mark. That will be an interesting adventure!
It'll bring up a lot of questions about the birds and the bees, but at least they'll come naturally.
Having Monday off for the New Year's was a nice way to kick off our first week of 2023. Shane got to help with horse chores and talk to baby ponies. He doesn't need to play any farming video games, because he gets to live it!
It's back to school tomorrow! Winter Break was a fantastic and direly needed time to rest up. January has a lot of holidays and teacher workdays, but wrestling will keep it from being too restful (but it makes it fun, as well!).
