Triple R posted pictures each day. Shane was even in some of them! Carrie was thrilled to see him smiling on a horse.
I asked Shane after he got home what was going on in each picture. I didn't see him in this one, but he said he was in it "at the front."
"I don't see you in front anywhere," I said.
"No, you're looking at the back," Shane said. "The front is the other end. We're waiting to go into the cafeteria."
These next shots were from the right before the obstacle course. "That's where I got all my bug bites!"
"Why didn't you use the bug spray?" I asked.
"Wha!? Bug Spray!?" (And yes, he yelled, because that's Shane!)
Shane said the kid in the red shirt in front of him had to go home early on Friday, because he caught the flu. Ouch.
Supposedly there was another kid who got sick on Monday and was sent home, too.
Triple R is a Christian camp, so I knew there'd be some worship going on. Shane loves music.
I was surprised to see him not participating in a later photo.
When I asked him about it, Shane said there were some older kids in the back not participating. He thought they might make fun of people who were dancing, so he sat out (...which I would argue would make him stand out since he's the only one amongst the people standing sitting, but I get what he felt).
I asked if this shot was before "the Flying Squirrel." I really wanted some shots from that (Partly, because I didn't know what it was!).
Shane said it was from right before a trail ride. Good job if you spotted his tiny face all the way in the back.
These shots are from the kids playing Gaga ball. Shane said he hadn't wanted to play at first.
I asked if the socks made it difficult and he said, "No! Those let me slide and dodge better!"
So he clearly got over his not wanting to play!
I asked Shane if he was the arm behind the counselor here, and he wasn't sure. "I might have been in the nurse's."
And Shane showed me where he would have been in this shot if he'd been at camp Friday morning.
Wait...where was Shane? That's tomorrow's post. Shane had an accident that required me to drive down and pick him up.
He went back to camp the next day. I thought he was being dramatic and hunting for sympathy in this shot, but Shane said the kid in the green jacket had patted him on the head.
In this shot, I asked Shane if he was being helpful.
"I was trying to move them to make a chair fort!"
Not helpful, but at least creative.
These last shots were from Monday, but I saved them for last. The first is a simple group shot.
The second is a group shot of "Make your best funny faces."
When we were a little anxious about leaving Shane at camp, the goofy faces put us at ease.
Shane said he had a great time and wanted to go back in the fall or next summer. Since next fall isn't an option, he'll have to wait until next summer! We'll probably want him to go for the same session in the hope he can bump into familiar faces, but it will depend on whenever the big family get together is.
